To understand the concept of how an Envirosun HP Plus heat pump works, imagine a refrigerator working in reverse. While a refrigerator removes heat from within the closed box and expels that heat to the surrounding air, a heat pump takes the heat from surrounding air and transfers it to water in an enclosed tank.
Envirosun heat pump technology makes efficient use of heat in the surrounding air, even at temperatures as low as -7°C. In fact the Envirosun heat pump hot water system is so efficient that it can convert 1kW of electricity into over 4kW of heat.
The fan draws in the air containing heat energy, across an evaporator.
The evaporator turns the liquid refrigerant into gas.
The Envirosun compressor pressurises the refrigerant liquid into hot gas.
The hot gas inside the condenser coil heats the water inside the tank.
The refrigerant reverts back to a liquid after expansion & continues back to the evaporator for the process to start all over again.

The STC is a rated saving that a hot water system has been granted after testing and approved by the Australian Clean Energy Regulator. The number of STC’s that are issued refers to one megawatt hour (1 MWh) of avoided energy consumption over the hot water system’s deemed life expectancy.
S = R – T where S is STC count, R is Reference conventional system’s energy consumption (MWh over ten years), and T is Tested system’s estimated energy consumption (MWh over ten years).
